STOURPORT Trefoil Guild members got their knitting needles out to help children born with Aids in South Africa.
Over the past six months, the group, helped by members of St Michael's Church and Stourport Craft Club, has knitted nearly 400 vests for the cause.
The total number of garments to be shipped to Africa has been boosted by the efforts of Vera Jarvis, a member of Halesowen Trefoil Guild, who has collected 700 vests over the last three months.
When a container is filled, the vests will be dispatched.
Although South Africa is a warm country, when the sun goes down it can quickly turn cold, meaning the vests can, literally, be lifesavers for babies and toddlers.
