WORCESTERSHIRE Young Archaeologists club are holding an exhibition and presentation about the Broadway fieldwalk project this month at Lifford Hall in the village.

The exhibition held on Sunday, June 25, will show the work of the members of the WYAC aged between nine and 16 years, and the results of this very special archaeological project which has been financed by funding from Awards for All.

The Broadway fieldwork project involved youngsters in the collection of finds from a ploughed field containing an interesting enigmatic cropmark. The fieldwork resulted in the discovery of rare Mesolithic flints, Roman and post-medieval pottery, metal artefacts, glass, clay pipes and animal bone.

WYAC members then went on to wash, mark, draw, data and analyse all the finds, guided and tutored by specialists from the Worcestershire historic environment and archaeology service and supported by members from the South Worcestershire Archaeological group.

The group also produced their own database and plotted the funds onto a distribution plan, contributed to the archaeological report and the final presentation of the results at this event.

The event opens to the public from 10.30am until 1.15pm and invited guests are asked to attend at 2pm.
