AA BIDFORD-based businessman has returned from a visit to Zimbabwe to see the fruits of his labour as part of a Christian Aid project.

Managing director Tim Lively of Aquaid in Bidford was viewing the wells that have been constructed as a result of the water company's donations.

The 47-year-old who also runs Shakespeare's coffee company in the village said: "We run both companies with the aim of selling fair trade goods to our customers and in the case of Aquaid, for every bottle of water that's sold we donate 40p to Christian Aid. We also donate £20 when we plumb a water cooler with all donations going to help build wells in Zimbabwe."

Mr Lively spent three weeks out in Africa visiting places where Aquaid had helped make a difference to the lives of people who once had to walk two hours to fetch water.

He added: "We've been building wells throughout Africa in association with Christian Aid for many years and hope to continue do so.

"I have to say all the work carried out in Africa has been done through donations which could not be made if we did not have customers'support."
