HEREFORD United are still waiting to hear from striking star Adam Stansfield after Exeter City claimed they had secured his signature.

The former Yeovil player, currently on holiday, was offered a new, improved deal with the Bulls following their promotion to League Two via the Conference play-offs.

But reports suggest the 27-year-old has opted to remain in non-league football with Exeter and Hereford have released a statement admitting they are yet to hear from Stansfield.

It seems he has followed Danny Carey-Bertram in leaving Edgar Street with his fellow forward joining Cambridge United in a bid for regular first-team football.

Stansfield bagged 10 goals last season despite an injury-hit time and was top scorer the previous campaign after signing for Hereford from Yeovil in 2004.

But Bulls boss Graham Turner has secured teenage striker Stuart Fleetwood, midfielder Rob Purdie and full-back Simon Travis on one-year contracts.

And popular goalkeeper Wayne Brown, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with Hereford as they won promotion, has joined from Chester City on a two-season deal.

Hereford have added a visit to Conference side Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday, July 25, to their pre-season friendly list.

They have also organised their Herefordshire FA Senior Cup final with city neighbours Westfields at Edgar Street for Tuesday, July 18.
