THE oldest person helping out at a hospice for people with life-limiting illnesses was among volunteers honoured by Kidderminster's Mayor, Paul Harrison.
Carol Rees, 77, of Kidderminster, has worked for Kemp Hospice in the town for 15 years and was among the first people involved when it opened its doors at the original Sutton Park Road base in 1992.
Following a career in nursing, she joined Kemp as a general volunteer in the day hospice before joining its spiritual team seven years ago.
She was among the devoted helpers honoured during National Volunteers Week.
She said: "I am delighted. It has been a privilege to work with the many patients and families who have benefited from the work of Kemp over the years and it has provided me with an opportunity to use my retirement in a caring situation."
Kemp is currently seeking more volunteers for a variety of roles.
