DEDICATED gardeners will show off their hard work in memory of a popular Kidderminster electrician on Sunday.

Kidderminster Horticultural Society is holding its open day in honour of former member, Stan Heath, who died, aged 76, in December.

Mr Heath had opened his garden, with his wife Margaret, every summer for the past 15 years.

There will be 10 gardens open to visitors across the town, including Low Habberley, Hoo Road, Bewdley Hill, Marlpool Lane and Welbeck Drive.

Charities to benefit from the event include Hereford and Worcester branch of the Alzheimers Society, as Mr Heath suffered from the illness.

During the past 10 years, the society has raised more than £20,000 for charity. Other causes receiving donations this year will be Blackberry Way Bereavement Services and Orphans of Kenya, run by Bewdley resident, Annie Austin.

Society member, Louise Aston, said: "We are praying for good weather on Sunday so we can raise a lot of money for the good causes."

Tickets are available from John Beard's Ironmongers in Bridge Street, Kidderminster, Louise Aston on 01562 69115 or Sue Cook on 01562 631001. Maps will be provided and refreshments will be available.
