Mr Alfred Capper, the thought-reader, gave most interesting entertainments at the Assembly Rooms on Friday and Saturday. As an exponent of thought transmission and other mysterious phenomena, he puzzles and amuses his audiences, and his experiments were certainly remarkable. Public patronage, however, was not what it should have been. Perhaps the delightful weather was a powerful counter-attraction. Malvern News, June 16, 1906.

Malvern has the honour of being the first town in the provinces to hold an International Youth Fortnight - June 29 to July 13 - and will no doubt do much to promote friendship, understanding and goodwill among the large group of young people from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland who are being entertained in the town. Malvern Gazette, June 15, 1956.

Celebrations for the Royal Wedding will be marked by a bonfire on the Worcestershire Beacon. The Royal Family asked the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to arrange bonfires around the country on the eve of the wedding. Permission has been granted by Malvern Hills Conservators for the institution's West Midlands junior branch to arrange a bonfire on the Beacon on the evening of July 28. Malvern Gazette, June 18, 1981.
JUNIOR department pupils at the John Masefield High School, Ledbury, broke nearly half the existing records at the second annual swimming gala, held at Ledbury Swimming Pool. There was a runaway victory in overall points for Somers House, thanks chiefly to magnificent swimming by brother and sister, Chris and Lesley Howard. Ledbury Reporter, June 18, 1981.
