WORCESTER NOMADS I v Harborne

A catch in the deep by Blake Raymond helped secure a winning draw for Nomads in Worcestershire League division two on Saturday.

Harborne won the toss and put in, Nomads were soon struggling at 6-3 until Blake Raymond and Steve Bowman (70) came to the rescue, putting on 99.

Runs continued to flow through Darren Lakin (57), Huw Dimond, Guy Davies and James Smith. Nomads finished their 50 overs on 262-9.

Harborne started slowly and at 100-5, looked to be playing for a draw. The sixth wicket pair, J Mackay (72*) and B Raj (59), put on over 100 but James Smith and Steve Bowman took two vital wickets, Smith's being Raymond's catch. This left Harborne to play out the final four overs for a losing draw, finishing on 236-7.

Harborne v Worcester Nomads II

THE loss of an early wicket did not deter Nomads, after they travelled to Harborne for Saturday's league fixture and were sent in to bat.

Reg Dixon (42) and captain Andy Leach (70) got things moving, ably assisted by Rich Lisle (70).

With a flourish at the end from Nic Lloyd (26no) and Paul Ranscombe, Nomads posted a credible 262-8 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Nomads' bowling was tight and fielding excellent, as the run-rate was stemmed for the first 25 overs.

However, the arrival of James (98no) changed the game and he formed a match-winning partnership with Coley (56) with two overs to spare.

John Goodreds (1-62), Nick Williams (2-57) and Tom Marsh (2-63) were the successful Nomads bowlers.

Stourbridge Social v Worcester Nomads I

Nomads' sunday fixture saw them elect to bat, Ollie Flower (35) and Richard Millard scoring 50 for the first wicket.

Momentum was maintained by Tom Isaacs (24) and Guy Davies (31) and a mid-innings collapse was stemmed by Tom Longley's 56no.

This was aided by lusty blows by Jon Ingles (13) and Matt Machichan (22), Nomads posting 251 all-out in 37.3 overs.

Stourbridge Social were never in the chase and succumbed to 98 all-out. J Ingles took 3-8 in four overs, M Machichan 2-19 in five, C Goodreds 2-41, A Madzarevic 2-9 in five and J Watkins 1-11 in five.

Worcester Nomads II v Crowle

Crowle batted first on a superb, flat wicket at Bransford on Sunday.

After conceding 50 from seven overs, Nomads hit back with Tom Malone taking 1-26 from his five.

An economical Dave Ash and veteran Nick Williams were backed by some fine fielding as Nomads started to pull things around.

Spinner Nick Lloyd (3-43) bowled a fine spell and under-13 Ben Warren, on his senior debut, produced some good swing bowling, conceding only 23 off his four overs. Alex Williams, also under 13, picked up a wicket at the end. Crowle declared at tea on 193-5.

In reply, Nomads were struggling at 31-3 but hard-hitting Matt Humphreys hit a positive 79. The next few batsmen chanced their arm and struck a few boundaries but with Pip Sirrell (25no) and Alex Williams (6no), the innings was closed 30 runs short. A very respectable draw against a very good Crowle side.
