BEFORE all the Malvern moaners and naysayers start their letters' page discussion, I should like to thank the organisers of the Elgar Festival and Fringe for a fabulous few days of fun and frivolity as well as quality arts and music.

The residents and visitors to Malvern were treated to a varied programme that showcased so many local talents. We are fortunate indeed to have such an array of gifted people.

On the side of organisation, I think it worth mentioning that we have a new arts officer on MHDC who is aiming to link individual groups and professionalise their achievements and has shown great faith in backing the projects.

The Malvern Fringe committee has put on a variety of events in recent years and a dedicated band of less than a dozen individuals could probably do with some new impetus to carry things forward, as well as a large pat on the back.

As for our resident orchestra, now under threat, as all arts organisations are, they deserve our appreciation and support in whatever way possible. Come on out and support what your community is doing, we are so very lucky.
