THERE is a lovely nature path that circumnavigates the housing estate on which I live. I would imagine that it measures about a mile laid end to end.
While some of its exit and entry points are already made impassable to pushchairs and motability scooters by incomprehensible footpath barriers, it nevertheless affords some freedom within its boundaries.
The path is tree and shrub-lined, without paving. It allows access to short cuts all around the estate for both adults and children going to, or coming from work or school, and gives great pleasure when strolling on a warm sunny evening.
At present, however, the greater part of this path is virtually impassable, unless you happen to carry a machete.
The path is under the management of three different authorities, Malvern Town Council, Malvern Hills District Council and Worcestershire County Council, none of which maintain it on a regular basis. The majority of the path is under the control of Malvern Town Council. My husband has twice spoken to members of the maintenance team, the first time over seven weeks ago, without result.
Needless to say, it can be plainly seen by the photograph that the path is now very overgrown.
