REDMARLEY village festival weekend enjoyed glorious weather. It began with a fashion show at the village hall on Friday evening and continued on Saturday with a number of gardens open and plant and other stalls at the village hall.
The fundraising event in aid of Redmarley Church focussed on the flower and hat exhibition at St Bartholomew's, which was beautifully decorated and which portrayed a fascinating story with hats, flowers and needlework. Boater-type hats decorated the pew ends, having been made by several ladies. Hats for both servicemen and women marked the Remembrance roll of honour with the Kohima Epitaph. There were sad hats, all black hats, sports hats and straw hats, fun hats, children's, occupational, leisure and celebration and in the chancel the bishop's mitre and church silver. All the paraments were designed and stitched by Phyliss Maddocks assisted by Sylvia Hale. Flowers enhanced every display and the whole exhibition was a delight. A festival songs of praise brought a successful weekend to a close.
