The church fete at St Peter's Church, Powick, on June 3 proved a great success, raising in excess of £1,000 toward the repair of the north wall. Many people attended the fete and enjoyed the wonderful sunshine, visiting the stalls outside and several people had the opportunity to visit the church for the first time. Over the weekend, the bell-ringers were also in action and rang a quarter peal. Each Saturday afternoon during the summer months the church is open to visitors, with stewards on hand to give information and refreshments.

An evening with the Fabulous Boogie Boys was held at Powick Parish Hall last Saturday. The theme was masque ball and everyone sported some imaginative outfits and masques. The buffet supper, which included chilli and jacket potatoes, quiche and salads, followed by gateaux and cheeses, was excellent. The committee members of Powick Players had decorated the hall in black and gold and prepared the buffet. The bar was provided by the Red Lion.
