There is the pre-school car boot on Sunday at Welland recreation ground at noon. All the usual stalls and excellent cakes/teas and coffees in the hall.

Because England may be playing in the World Cup quarter-finals at 4pm on Saturday, July 1, Welland fete has been brought forward to 1pm.

First in the arena is a local dog club display and at 1.30pm, we welcome Welland Primary School Brass band.

The ever-popular 'beat the goalie' and 'Mini push' competitions are open to everyone. Any donations of cakes would be extremely welcome for the cake stall, bring them to the hall on the day or to have them collected, ring 310256.

We would also be pleased to receive any good quality jumble. We need bric-a-brac, plants, produce, bottles for the tombola or raffle prizes. Any contributions would be gratefully received.

There will be a 'paint the plate'' or 'garden on a plate' competitions for all ages. Anyone who would be willing to help, contact 01684-310672 or 310256.

Welland Primary School celebrates its 130th birthday this year and to mark this excellent achievement, the staff are inviting anybody who has, or has had, anything to do with the school to come to its birthday party on Wednesday, July 5.

The event starts at 1pm with a look around the school - see photographs, registers and log books. Between 2-3pm, there will be the entertainment section with the brass band, country dancing and skipping displays.

The afternoon rounds off with tea and cake between 3pm and 3.30pm. For this reason, the staff would like to know how many to cater for, so could those who think they will be coming ring the office on 310246.
