SIR - I was very pleased to see that the Worcester News has put in motion a campaign to rally support for the preservation of the historic sports pavilion on Boughton Park/Cinderella Ground.
As commendable as this is, I see little point in this move without keeping in existence the equally historic playing field. This ground, up to a comparatively short time ago, was probably one of the top sporting venues in the county, with excellent tennis courts, bowling green, football pitch and cricket ground.
As playing fields all over the city have disappeared, I believe that every effort should be made by the city council to ensure that this sporting jewel in Worcester's crown is not allowed to become yet another building site.
