ABOUT a dozen callers contacted the BBC television programme Crimewatch following an appeal for information on the death of the newborn baby found by the riverbank near Great Alne.

Detectives investigating the case travelled to London to take part in last week's programme, which included film footage of the scene and an appeal by DCI Adrian Pearson.

The appeal focused on finding baby Lilly's mother and identifying items of bloodstained clothing which were discovered in a plastic Mothercare carrier bag with the baby's body.

DCI Pearson said a high volume of calls were unexpected following the television appeal but he hoped some good quality information would be forthcoming.

He added officers were now following up the calls. Anyone with information can call the incident room on 01789 444693.
