PATIENTS who visit a Spa medical practice are set to benefit from greater services after an extension to double its size.

Droitwich residents visiting the Corbett Medical Practice, in Corbett Avenue, will now be able to use a total of 15 consulting rooms for the ten doctors that work there after the extension was officially opened.

There are also two training rooms for medical students, a specialist eye screening room, a physiotherapy room and a minor treatment suite.

The extension was officially opened last Friday after a party for old staff members, near neighbours, practice families and people who helped build the site.

A magnolia tree was also planted on the grounds near to the new practice extension to mark the special occasion.

Corbett Medical Practice manager Nicky Ellis said: "This is massive for the practice. The extension has doubled the size and is great for all the people who come here.

"We now have a beautiful surgery that is a wonderful place to work and means we will be able to offer better treatment in friendly surroundings."

Nigal Higenbottam, of the South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, added: "From a PCT point of view we are very pleased with the additional facilities that the extension will provide.

"It is the first major improvement of primary care for Droitwich Spa and will complement the new planned facility next year. It will see the GP practices in the town operating from new facilities that should take them well in to the future."
