President June Bodger welcomed members to the June meeting of the Inner Wheel Club of Droitwich Spa, which took place at the Raven Hotel

After supper June lit the candle of friendship remembering members old and new the world over. She was pleased to announce that the annual salmon and strawberry lunch, held this year in the garden of Rotary President Jim Gillespie, had made a handsome profit of £215.

June will represent the club at the civic service at the invitation of mayor Jan Bolton and will also attend the opening ceremony at Rotary House to mark the completion of the alterations to the building.

Eve Evans volunteered to host the Macmillan coffee morning on September 29 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and three members enjoyed lunch at the invitation of the Pershore Inner Wheel Club and heard an interesting talk on the work of the Stroke Association.

After the monthly business, there followed the AGM when secretary Margaret Tanner presented her annual report on the activities of the club. These included a treasure hunt, a ploughman's lunch, a spring concert for the young musicians of Droitwich Spa and a quiz. Photograph albums, reminding members of all the activities of the club over the past few years, were on display.

Reports were presented by each of the officers with special reference by overseas service organiser Shirley Jones to the wonderful contribution of knitted teddies, which were still pouring in, together with more and more squares to be stitched into blankets. Shirley thanked the knitters and made a plea for donations of wool to keep the volunteers busy. June agreed to remain president for a further year, with Hazel Barnes as vice president.
