DURING the past week, Her Highness the princess Louise Augusta of Schleswig-Holstein has been on a visit to the Marquis and Marchiness of Hertford at Ragley Hall, Alcester, arriving on Tuesday evening.
In honour of the visit, Alcester was gaily decorated with flags, bunting and for the summit of the Parish Church tower, the Union Jack once more floated proudly.
The royal visitor was timed to arrive at Alcester by the 5.16pm GWR train but long before that time a vast crowd had gathered on the platform and in the station yard to give her a cordial welcome.
The Princess, who was attended by Barnoness Chappris, was charmingly attired in turquoise blue and wore a black straw hat with ostrich plume.
