ABBEY Park Middle School pupil Sarah Cowin showed her power in the pool when competing at the Midlands District Swimming Championships.

The ten-year-old member of Worcester SC claimed a gold medal at Coventry and that performance allied to her efforts within the club earned her the club's Swimmer of the Month accolade.

Sarah's latest success followed previous triumphs at the Worcestershire Championships and her next aim is to get the qualifying time to enable her to compete at the Nationals next year.

The ten-year-old (pictured) was only the fifth fastest going into the 100m breaststroke final but her dedication and technique paid off as she touched first to claim the prestigious title.

Training under the guidance of coach Mark Stowe, Sarah certainly puts in the time as she aims for national glory.

A punishing schedule of six training sessions every week is testament to her commitment, while the help of her parents is invaluable in her pursuit of more glory.
