FIVE Evesham crews picked up wins at last Sunday's Ironbridge Regatta.

J13s Dominic Murphy and Lawrence Sullivan earned a well-deserved win in a straight final against Ross BC that saw the crews neck and neck for most of the 500m course until the Evesham boys powered through at the finish.

Sullivan had already won two heats of the J13 single sculls before being pipped at the post in the final.

The J14 quad of Jon and Ben Farrar, Rob Barnett, Alex Shirra and cox Jack Lazenby overcame a crew from Here-ford before facing a daunting challenge in the form of extremely tall opponents from Warrington.

What the Evesham boys lacked in terms of height they made up for in perfect technique!

In another close race, the Vale crew didn't let their opponents get the better of them and nagged away until they pulled through first on the finish.

In some tough doubles racing, Barnett and Shirra were beaten by a crew from Burton Leander. The Farrars, meanwhile, faced two of the Warr-ington boys from the quad and were pushed all the way to the finish line before again emerging victorious.

The twins then overpowered Burton Leander in the final to take the win.

In the J15 doubles, Tom Parry and Huw Davies put on an impressive show against a crew from Hereford.

Hereford were pushing all the way but the superior strength of the Evesham double was evident on the finish.

Will Tew and Tom Walker were in top form in the J16 double sculls. The boys, who are in training for next month's British Nationals, saw off crews from Hereford, Ross, and Minerva Bath for a well-deserved win.

One of the club's junior coaches, Norman Redgewell, competed in the Bourton Hilly Half-Marathon to help raise money to fund a new junior boat.

He clocked two hours eight minutes and two seconds beating club colleagues Maxine Emes, Steve Penrose and Steve Redgewell.
