FAR FOREST WI - After business, a report of the AGM at Cardiff was given. Members were told of arrangements for the strawberry tea in the president's garden on June 24 at 3pm.
The speaker was Sue Evans, who described her life in Brunei in the 1980s. She and her two children moved out there with her husband who had taken up a teaching post and stayed for eight years. She told members of life under the Sultan, the richest man in the world at the time.
Schooling was for all but the ex-pats usually went to the International School when they were old enough. Sue's youngest child was five and enrolled at an independent nursery. Sue was offered a job at the school, where she worked until they returned to England. Sue spoke informally and answered questions all the way through.
The next meeting will be at the Far Forest Centre at 7.45pm on July 11 when the speaker will be Angela Hugman, who is a physiotherapist. The competition is for a herb pillow.
