A STOURPORT man who took to the saddle to make his sister's dream come true has successfully completed his sponsored bike ride.

Kieran Williams, of Buttermere Road, took part in a ride from Stourport to Wadebridge in Cornwall to raise funds for his 13-year-old sister, Jenifer Flyn, who suffers from ME.

Together with his brother, AJ and friend, Mark Jordan, he managed to raise around £1,450 from the ride earlier, this month, to send Jenifer to the Ukraine for dolphin-assisted therapy.

Kieran's sister, who lives in Wadebridge, has been unable to live a normal life since being diagnosed with myalgic encephalomyelitis - known as ME - as a young child.

The condition has only been recognised by doctors in recent years after originally being dismissed as "yuppie flu". The main symptoms are debilitating fatigue, muscle pain and mental fogginess.

Dolphin-assisted therapy is not claimed to cure ME or any other condition but does have a significant positive psychological effect on the sufferer.

Jenifer, who is now set to fly out to Ukraine in August, will attend a programme which also involves psychological sessions with specialist doctors. Mr Williams said the funds raised would be added to money raised from a champagne reception, and Mexican and Chinese evenings held in aid of Jenifer.

He added: "The weather was quite hot for two of the days but it was a beautiful ride and we got to see parts of the country you wouldn't see driving in a car.

"Jenifer is also thrilled to realise her dream and we are hoping that it will greatly benefit her."
