GOLFERS were out in force to help raise £14,000 for Child Leukaemia in memory of a popular Kidderminster man.

The Trevor Evans Memorial Day, which included a dinner and charity auction, was held on Thursday, last week at Kiddermins-ter Golf Club.

Mr Evans died of lung cancer in 2002, aged 54, leaving his widow Pauline and two sons, Andrew and Tim.

The event, which is in its fourth year, was organised by his friend, Kevin France, and a total of £43,000 has been raised during that time for different charities, including Cancer Research UK.

Ninety-two competitors took part in the charity game, followed by the dinner at the Stone Manor Hotel, which was attended by 115 people.

Mrs Evans, of Barnetts Lane, said she was delighted with the money raised, adding: "Golf was his passion so it is a fitting tribute."
