BELOW-par batting cost Bewdley as they slumped to an 83-run defeat at home to Droitwich in Division One.

Bewdley gave themselves a chance by restricting the visitors to 178-8 thanks to some brilliant bowling from Tom Boden.

With Droitwich at 33-0 in the 10th over, an eight-over spell saw Boden take five wickets for just 12 runs, eventually finishing with 5-46.

But they never got going with the bat as skipper Matt Boden (25) and Martin Flack (17) top scored during their disappointing innings of 95.

Stourport

Stourport firsts were left cursing themselves after losing their Division Three North clash at Enville by 19 runs in the penultimate over.

Enville batted first and posted a good score of 266-8 with Andy Platt taking 4-77 for the visitors.

In reply, Stourport went for the run chase in determined fashion only to be dismissed for 247 in the 49th over.

Paul Edwards top scored with the bat with 62, while Mark Moss reached 54 and Tom Gloster made 23.

The result means Stourport slip to seventh place in the table.

Cookley

A fine century from Stu Nicholls set Cookley on their way to a winning draw against high-flying Old Halesonians in Division Three North.

Nicholls' unbeaten 115 held the innings together for Cookley as they amassed 268-7 in their allotted 50 overs.

Brother Adam Nicholls also hit 45, with Grant Snowball (37) and Gary Mills (33) also contributing to the total.

Old Halesonians never really looked like reaching the large total, but they did eventually manage 218-7 to gain a losing draw.

Dave Barton and Snowball took three wickets apiece for Cookley who stay sixth in the table, only 31 points behind leaders Oldswinford.

Kidderminster Victoria

Kidderminster Victoria continued their revival with their second successive victory in Division Two.

Avoncroft were their latest victims as, batting first, they were dismissed for 150 by KVCC.

Mike Kirby Davis led the way with 4-26 and was well supported by Dave Bannister 2-49, Kevin Amos 2-28 and Amrik Sigh 1-26.

In reply KVCC got off to the worst possible start and at one stage were 12-4.

But the experienced pair Amos (40) and Dave Mitchell (39) steadied the innings and some late hitting by Bannister saw the home side to 153-7 with nine balls to spare.
