KIDDERMINSTER Victoria Cricket Club are refusing to get carried away by their victory over Birmingham League leaders West Bromwich Dartmouth.

Head coach Ross Edwards believes taking the table-toppers' scalp was just reward for the club's hard work on and off the pitch.

But he has warned KVCC's players that they cannot afford to let their standards drop at home to Coventry and NW on Saturday.

"The West Brom result just shows what we're capable of if we put in performances for the whole 110 overs, " he said.

"At this level there are always going to be times when the opposition are in the game but it's up to us to keep on going.

"We still know our aims for the season and they are not going to change because we've won a game.

"We're not going to get carried away, we're just going to stick to what we're good at."

Craig Wood is set to retain his place in the team after an impressive knock of 72 following his promotion from the seconds.

Josh Knappett will return to action following his absence through university cricket commitments last weekend, but Will Gifford could be unavailable again.

Edwards has warned that Keith Bell and Greg Smith will be the players to watch out for when mid-table Coventry stop off at Chester Road on Saturday.

"We've found that teams have got players who can bat well deeper down the order, while it's not just the opening bowlers who can take wickets."
