HE released his first single in the UK in late 1983, appeared in the original Live Aid and, two decades on, synthesiser guru Howard Jones is still going strong.

The acclaimed musician, who has achieved massive worldwide record sales and topped the US singles and album charts, is now coming to Worcester to play a concert at Huntingdon Hall.

Howard's first hit, New Song, was expected to sell a few thousand copies but in actual fact it exceeded expectations and peaked at number three in the singles charts.

It was the beginning of a fruitful career and he subsequently did one better with his second single What Is Love? reaching number two.

The singer's debut album Human's Lib followed the same path, hitting number one in the UK in April 1984 and eventually going platinum. The release took the synthesiser and Howard to a new level, reaching audiences in USA, Japan, Germany, Italy and Australia and going gold in all those countries. Over the years he can lay claim to being one of the few British artists to 'break' America and in the late 80s he went on an extensive US tour.

Now fans have a chance to relive all of his classics including Like To Get To Know You Well, No One Is To Blame and Look Mama when he plays Huntingdon Hall on Friday, July 7.

Tickets are priced £14.50, available from the venue's box office on 01905 611427 or www.huntingdonarts.com
