Dunstablians 51 Bromsgrove 21

Midlands Division One

BROMSGROVE were unable to end their season by recording the victory that has been eluding them all season as they were beaten by Dunstablians on Saturday.

The defeat, Bromsgrove's 22nd of the season, sealed the worst campaign in the club's recent history and mean they to go down to the West Midlands Division Two with it all to prove.

Despite the set back head coach Iain Hall, who has spent his time at the club laying the foundations of a new coaching structure, is confident that Bromsgrove will be in better shape come the start of the 2006/2007 season.

He said: "It's been an awful season and I think we're all glad to see the end of it. But even though it's been terrible there are plenty of good things to come out of it.

"The groundwork has already begun and things will be different next season."

Despite their losing streak all season Bromsgrove had shown signs of improvement in recent games. But they produced an open attacking display that allowed Dunstablians to score at will.

Nick Durnie grabbed two tries and winger Richard Stockholm the other, while Kent Summerfield converted all three.

Hall said: "We played a bit too much sevens rugby and got caught out but I couldn't fault the effort of the players.

"If we had found some form a bit earlier we may have avoided this terrible run of results. I am pleased there are signs that we will be much better next season."

The coach told the Advertiser/Messenger that the finishing touches to the new coaching set up at the club were being applied.

He said: "The new set up is nearly completed and it will make a difference.

"I want people to see this club as well organised and properly coached, where players can flourish in the right environment and enjoys themselves too.

"My main target is to finish top four in whatever division we play in."
