BROMSGROVE Court Leet Bailiff, Mr D Howard Wood, at the weekend welcomed parties of friends and representatives from many organisations in the area to his home, Cotswold in Barnt Green, to view and welcome the daffodils which grew in abundance there. Among the 30 varieties which were now at their best were some rare all white blooms.

THE Austin Motor Company took prompt action in order to minimise the nuisance caused to residents from the discharge of smoke from the East Works. Detectors were to be fitted to warn staff at the plant if smoke was about to be emitted, thereby allowing them to take action to avoid trouble.

FARMERS in the Bromsgrove and Droitwich areas were taking advantage of glorious April weather. It was enabling them to catch up on their cultivating after last year's disastrous summer and the severe winter. The spring sunshine had also perked up egg production for hens kept outdoors.

MORE the 70 long time employees of the Stoke Works salt company received awards from the deputy chairman of ICI Mr Quig. Messrs A Taylor, from Dodderhill Common, a chargehand in the salt sawing mill, and T Dougan, a labourer from Droitwich, were give clocks for having completed 40 years' service.
