STEVE Rhodes will be gunning for revenge when Worcestershire travel to Derbyshire tomorrow in the Liverpool Victoria County Championship (11am).

Back in May, Dave Houghton's men handed the County a 35-run beating as the New Road outfit made a slow start to the campaign.

However, director of cricket Rhodes' players have since turned things around and go into the game well-placed in second spot, two spaces above the hosts who are fourth.

The former County wicketkeeper is hoping for a win that would help to put some breathing space between his side and Derbyshire in the title race -- just as Sunday's 58-run victory over Gloucestershire did.

He said: "Defeating Gloucestershire has put some distance between us and them in the table and if we can beat Derbyshire too, it will help to kill them off.

"It will also be good to get revenge over Derby for beating us earlier in the season at New Road.

"We always go out to win every game we play and that will be no different against Derbyshire tomorrow."

Rhodes also said that a poor Twenty20 Cup campaign has not dented the team morale and his players are determined to win every game they take part in.

He added: "Even though our Twenty20 campaign was a bit of a struggle, the confidence has always been good in the dressing room.

"I do not look too much into what other teams are doing, but we really want to win the games against Essex, Surrey and Derbyshire to put ourselves in a strong position in the league."

England bowler Kabir Ali is facing a race to be fit after missing the win over Gloucestershire.

Matt Mason's 10-wicket haul in that match stands him in good stead, while Ben Smith hit a crucial 106 to help turn the fixture around.
