YOUNGSTERS caused a splash at a leisure centre in Worcester for people with disabilities as it officially opened its £15,000 sensory garden complete with water feature.
The Snoezelen Centre in Turnpike Close, off Oldbury Road, has been open since September 1993 and provides a multi-sensory leisure resource for people with a wide range of disabilities.
Over the years it has gone from strength to strength and, earlier this week, the centre celebrated the completion of its new sensory garden, which has been funded by a grant from children's charity the Wooden Spoon Organisation.
The garden has taken a couple of years to complete due to several setbacks but now includes a water feature, pergola with hammocks inside, raised flower beds and a variety of sensory plants.
Representatives from the Wooden Spoon Organisation were at the centre along with centre staff and various users to officially open the garden.
Project manager Penny Bews said: "It's brilliant and basically the icing on the cake for us.
"It was full of youngsters on the day who were thoroughly enjoyed and it and will be used for years to come."
