ROCK fans in the Vale are being invited to wriggle into their tightest jeans and sport hair even Brian May would be seething with jealousy at with the arrival of the Evesham Rock Festival this Saturday.

The festival will be brimming with top rock acts including headliners yoU2 and Syrus all the way from London playing on the main stage.

The rest of the festival's line up will include, Full Company, Retro, Idlehands, The Irony, The Echoes, Backlight, Chequered Footprints and Live Rounds, along with an unplugged set from Newton's Apple and C-Marie Carter, dubbed as one of the best Cher tributes in the country.

Simon Parry, one of the promoters of the event, said: "Everything is in place now and we're sure it is going to be a great day, we're just hoping for good weather. All the bands are busy getting ready for the event and working hard to make it a success. It's raising funds for the Macmillan unit at Evesham Community Hospital so it's a great cause and it's even better now as it looks likely to survive these cuts, that's even better news for us all."

He added: "We have a licence for 499 people and ticket sales have really picked up so we're very positive that we'll have a good cheque to present to the Macmillan unit."

The event starts at noon until 10.30pm at Evesham United's Football Ground on Common Road.

Tickets are still available from Surfantix in Evesham High Street and can also be bought by ringing the hotline on 07962100790. Depending on how ticket sales go this week, there may be some tickets available on the day at the gate.
