THE annual children's flower show was held by Lady Isobel Margesson at Foxlydiate House in Tardebigge. The children were kindly entertained to tea on the lawn while the entries were judged. Among the prize winners were Elsie Frazier in class one for under 10s, George Wilson in the under 13s class two, and Elsie Hunt in class three for under 13s. After awarding the prizes Lady Isobel played old English games with the children on the lawn.

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD child was killed after his clothes caught fire during a blaze in a kitchen. Arthur Henry Cound, son of George and Florence Cound of The Strand, Bromsgrove died at the Cottage Hospital two days after the incident. His mother went downstairs and discovered him with his clothes on fire. She wrapped a rug around him and a neighbour came to take him to hospital. The whole of the front of his body was severely burnt. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.

MESSRS Chappel and Cotton held their quarterly store stock sale in Hanbury. The sale comprised of 98 head of cattle seven calves, 511 sheep and lambs, 99 pigs and ten horses. A large gathering of buyers were present and nearly all the stock changed hands. Breeding ewes were in good demand and all sold from 34s to 43s 6d. Bunches of bullocks from Mrs Jackson made £13 per head while other entries from J.Deakin and A.Graziers made between £8 and £11 2s 6d.
