THE choir has been celebrating the summer in fine style.

The annual summertime concert was a great success. Roger Powell, as master of ceremonies, was as entertaining as ever and the two young guest soloists, Maddy Glasbey and Dale Pearce, were remarkably talented. The near-capacity audience ensured another substantial contribution to the hospice and cancer help centre.

On the hottest July day ever the choir was privileged to sing at the most joyful occasion of the wedding of Maureen and David Thorpe. St Leonard's Church, Beoley, was full to bursting and the congregation was clearly delighted with the choir's rendering of The Wind Beneath My Wings, possibly the choir's all-time favourite. The solemnity of the wedding was emphasised with Betty Hart's beautiful Ave Maria and the significance of the event was brought out when the choir sang Love is a Many-Splendoured Thing as Maureen and David came down the aisle.

The choir hopes to sing at many more weddings. They have a wide repertoire of appropriate music.

After the pleasure comes the work. The choir is now preparing for the next public concert, the Proms in Bromsgrove on October 7, and is also singing at private functions in the meantime. To book the choir for a private concert or any other event, please contact the musical director on 01527 546158.
