BAD weather did not dampen spirits at the annual Wythall Carnival on Sunday.

Visitors enjoyed a day of entertainment and amusement, including Kings Norton Marching Band, a display by trained dogs, children's races and the village's Classic Car Show.

The carnival was officially opened by Wythall Community Association president Norman Howarth and entertainment started with an aerobatic flying display.

A trio of stunts from Mark Stannage and his family provided the main attraction, impressing audiences with a display of motorbike riding by his 11-year-old son, an Amazing Flaming High Dive and an Exploding Coffin Escape.

The Kings Norton Youth Marching Band provided the music and youngsters were encouraged to try unicycling and walking on stilts in a circus skills worshop.

Carnival committee chairman Bob Green said it had been a great day despite the weather.

"It was a bit cold and windy but otherwise it was very good - I think we had a fair crowd but it was quite depressed because of the weather," he said.

"There were a few delays to the aerobatic display because of low cloud but the whole day went off very safely and the majority of people enjoyed themselves."
