ABOUT 50 community-minded people turned up in the scorching weather to take part in Noise 06 in Woodrow.

Many gardens were weeded and new plants bought for some of them. Fences were painted, cars washed and about 30 bags of rubbish and vegetation were collected and dumped. There was also a free bouncy castle, face painting and refreshments.

A spokesman said: "So many people were grateful and amazed that people would do this sort of thing for free.

"There was a real sense of community and we're already looking forward to the Noise in Studley this September.

"The Noise, organised by St John's Church in Greenlands, is all about serving and caring and showing that the local church can make a positive impact in a community."
