Bromsgrove Rovers 3

Barnt Green Spartak 0

BARNT Green enjoyed a baptism of fire in its first game at the Victoria Ground when they lost to a youthful Bromsgrove Rovers team on Saturday.

Spartak, who have a three year deal to play at Bromsgrove Rovers' home, were shot down by two late goals, while searching for an equaliser in an entertaining match.

With Rovers' first team playing away at Waltham Abbey the club put out the youthful reserves side that will play in the Central Conference League.

In contrast Spartak manager GJ Singh was missing a few first team players and fielded several trialists.

Spartak started brightly and Lloyd Sewell produced a great cross from the right but striker Django Farrell could not connect.

Bromsgrove opened the scoring when Karl Hooper headed in brother Adam's corner. Andre Tulloch and Adrian Neil combined in the 58th minute and Farrell forced substitute Joe Clement into a save.

Farrell headed Jaziah Campbell's free kick wide in the 70th minute and Campbell tested Clement with a thumping 20-yard shot.

Spartak were throwing caution to the wind in search of an equaliser but they were caught out when Scott Byres made it 2-0.

Andrew Court's cross nearly forced Sean Burrell into an own goal.

Court made sure of victory late on when he clipped the ball past substitute 'keeper Marc Wright.
