CELEBRITIES from Worc-estershire are hoping to catch a hatful of cash for St Richard's hospice when they pit their skills against a team of stars from a top television soap series.

The St Richard's All Stars - including Worcestershire County Cricket coach Steve Rhodes and former player David Leatherdale, auctioneer and TV star Philip Serrell and DJ Stoney from Wyvern FM - will play a team from Emmerdale at the county ground in New Road, Worcester, on September 10.

It promises to be a fun day out for all the family. Apart from the Twenty20 cricket match, England spinner Ashley Giles will be calling in and there will be face painting, music and entertainment.

St Richard's fund-raising manager Tricia Cavell said: "The Emmerdale team is so excited about playing at New Road that one of the team has cancelled his holiday to come along."

The gates open at 10.30am and the match starts at noon. Entry is £3 per person or £10 for a group of four. Every ticket bought in advance will go into a draw and the winners will get a chance to meet members of the Emmerdale cast in their marquee. Members of the public can bid for a place in the team on ebay by going on to www.ebay.co.uk, then click on sporting goods and then cricket.
