The July meeting was well attended. Jill Findon, president, welcomed Catherine Clark, speaker, to tell us about Her life in Hats. Catherine brought along a colourful array of small and large hats for every occasion in beautiful boxes.

The strawberry fundraiser held in the village hall was a success.

Finstall WI, instead of a January meeting, had an August meeting and on another hot afternoon, members were taken back in time to the 1600s with Mo Emmans, who was dressed as a peasant.

She talked about how her life would have been, selling her crafts in the streets of long ago. Mo's craft is decorative work on linen, cards and wood. It was a colourful display.

Names were taken for both the speaker's evening and the autumn council meeting, which are both being held in Bromsgrove. Members were informed of the flower, veg and craft show in Finstall village hall on September 2.

Competitions for both meetings took place with Ann Parr winning the hat competition and Joan Hunt winning the small painting competition.

Our meetings take place on the first Monday of the month at 2.15pm.
