THERE was a trip down memory lane when members visited the Blists Hill Victorian Museum at Ironbridge.

They met the Victorians who were in period dress as they went about their business. At the bank, modern money could be exchanged for old money to pay for purchases in the town.

There was a candle factory, together with other industrial sites redolent of the Industrial Revolution, as well as the grocer's and the sweet shop and not forgetting the pub! The coal merchant's dray and the horse-drawn omnibus all attracted attention and were so evocative of past times. Before returning home, members visited the Coalport China Museum. Last month, members attended the institute's second garden party, again held at the vice-president's farm, which was a great success. More recently, President Pearl Prior was also well pleased with the sales table at the Burcot fete and flower show.

The institute's next event will be the coffee morning on September 7, followed by the monthly meeting on September 13 when Catherine Clark will speak on my life and hats.
