RAIN proved to be the scourge of local sides in the Worcestershire County League as many games were forced off by bad weather on Saturday.

Of all the local sides only Chaddesley Corbett managed to play in a game, that was reduced because of the rain, and lost to Astwood Bank by nine wickets.

Despite Robert Bond's 55 Corbett were restricted to 133 all out, as Daniel Sealey and Andjrez Jagielski shared eight wickets.

Defeat means that Corbett slipped back into the bottom two in Division One and the team's chances of getting relegated increased.

Avoncroft are still second from bottom in Division Two after their match at home to Harborne was abandoned.

Dave James had taken 6-39 to dismiss Harborne for 119, but 'Croft weren't given a chance to reply because of the bad weather.

Belbroughton went down by ten wickets to Worcester Nomads in Division Two. The Tons were bowled out for 104 as Thompson (5-31) and Taylor (4-16) bowled well and Worcester replied with 105-0.

In the Division Three North Cutnall Green's game was abandoned with it on a knife edge. Green had restricted Enville to 140-7 when bad weather stopped play.

Himbleton's good run of form in the Division Three South ended when their game against Old Vigornians was abandoned.

The Tons were bowled out for 154 and Vigornians had made 44-1 when rain stopped play.

Corbett face two testing away matches over the Bank Holiday weekend, going to leaders Kington this Saturday and Bewdley on Monday.

Avoncroft go to Luctonians on Saturday and play Belbroughton away on Monday.

Belbroughton take on Lye on Saturday, while Cutnall Green entertain Cookley and Himbleton go to Birlingham (all matches 1pm start).
