Bromsgrove 117 all out Harborne 77-1
Game abandoned
THE rain dashed Bromsgrove's hopes of escaping the bottom half of the Birmingham and District League Division One and catching third placed Walmley, as the team's game against Harborne was abandoned on Saturday.
Bromsgrove are now third from bottom and are fifty points behind Walmley, who drew with Sutton Coldfield.
Now the Boars will turn their attention to making sure they move away from the bottom half of the table, before they are locked into a relegation battle.
The batting order struggled to dig in and Bromsgrove lost openers Omar Ali (12), captain Nick Davies (0) and James Watkins (5) cheaply.
Only Australian Simon Allison made an impact with the bat with a battling 30 runs, before he was bowled by Harborne captain Cockcroft.
However, the rest of Bromsgrove's wickets tumbled before tail ender Zafran Ali sparked a fight back with 27 as the Boars made 117 all out in 48 overs.
Bromsgrove's opponents started strongly with the bat before Davies dismissed opener S Moreton for 37 runs. However, Gear (19 not out) and J Moreton (15 not out) seemed to be steering Harborne towards victory before rain forced the match off.
