POLICE and members of the public helped workers from the Wychbold Swan Rescue Centre capture a pair of swans after they wandered onto the A38 near Droitwich.
Drivers had to wait while police and rescue officers ushered the birds from the Worcester-bound carriageway of the A38 at 8.30am last Wednesday. Two police cars were called to the scene between Martin Hussingtree and Droitwich. The swans were taken to Wychbold Swan Rescue after the incident where they will be checked and tested to make sure they are in good health before being returned to the wild.
Jan Harrigan, of the rescue centre, said: "We think they are from the golf course near to where they were found. This can be a problem each year when the swans start to move around.
"They were rescued with the help of police and also the public from the A38, but seem to be just fine.
"We will now be testing the swans and checking to make sure everything is all right."
