TICKETS are still available for a special fundraising event this weekend being organised by a campaigning group which is fighting to save a village pub near Bromsgrove.

The Save the Dodford campaign group is organising an al fresco evening of live music at the Dodford Inn this Saturday.

The five acres of grounds around the pub, set in the unspoiled countryside of Dodford, will provide the setting for a summer festival that up to five hundred people can enjoy.

Paul Lewis, from the campaign group, said: "We have so far sold more than 100 tickets, which we are really pleased with, but there are plenty of tickets left to be snapped up.

"We have been successful in getting local business support and sponsorship and we now want to sell as many tickets as we can. We are now hoping for good weather for the event, but rain or shine, the event will go ahead."

A group spokesman says that the concert has been organised to celebrate the fact that the pub has stayed open thanks to the support of many Bromsgrove people including local councillors, the local MP, the church, the local CAMRA group, and countless other volunteers.

The pub has hired the renowned Ralph Allin Quartet to play a mix of well known summer music, similar in style to the outdoor Proms concerts held in Hyde Park, London.

Families and groups of people are being encouraged to bring along a picnic, sit back and relax to top quality live music.

The performance starts at 8pm and will finish at around 10.15pm.

There will also be a barbecue and real cask ales available at the pub.

All proceeds from the evening will go towards the legal and valuation costs that the tenant and campaign organiser have incurred in battling closure so far.

Tickets are £7.50 for adults or £25 for two adults and two children. They are available from the Dodford Inn, Whinfield Road, Dodford, Bromsgrove, B61 9BG or by calling 01527 832470.

Tickets can also be bought on the door on the night for £10 each for adults or £30 for a family ticket.
