A SECOND-wicket stand of 91 between Lou Vincent and Vikram Solanki helped ease Worcestershire to a four-wicket victory over Yorkshire at Headingley in NatWest Pro40 League division two.

Chasing 192-9, the County suffered an early blow when Stephen Moore got a big top edge off Steven Patterson and wicketkeeper Gerard Brophy held on.

But Vincent, who completed his fourth consecutive one-day half-century, and Solanki made rapid progress although both benefited from good fortune.

Darren Lehmann broke the partnership by bowling Solanki for 43 off 50 balls with eight fours as he missed an attempted reverse sweep.

Nick Thornicroft's first delivery of his second spell bowled Vincent for 72 from 74 balls with 10 fours and a six.

But Worcestershire, with Ben Smith adding 25 and Steve Davies 17no, had few real scares while knocking off the remaining runs with 11 balls to spare.

Yorkshire were earlier shaken by a fiery spell from Matt Mason, who gave away just 26 runs and reduced them to 52-4 with a three wickets for one run burst in 13 deliveries.

He took a brilliant, low return catch to end a sparkling cameo from Michael Lumb who departed for 26.

Mason also dismissed Anthony McGrath and Lehmann.

Gareth Batty halted both Andrew Gale and Brophy who put together a stand of 48 for the fifth wicket.
