CLOSET singers are being sought for an impromptu choir to perform over the Bank Holiday weekend at the Pershore Plum Festival.

Director of music at Pershore Abbey, David Barclay is creating the Plum Fayre Festival Choir from August 25 to 28. Anyone can join in to add their voice to the group, which will perform in the abbey.

David said: "Anyone can join in even if they have no experience of singing in a group, as the Abbey Choir itself will be there to help. We have chosen very varied music so the singers can try something new while enjoying themselves."

The festival choir will be singing rousing hymns, Taize chants and some uplifting anthems.

David added: "The event is a great opportunity for the general community to join in the activities around the abbey."

Those who are interested are expected to turn up for rehearsals at 7pm on Friday, August 25, then join two services, one on Sunday morning and the other on Monday afternoon, to close the Plum Fayre.
