PREPARATIONS for the annual panto are in hand, with a big-name cast taking part in a production of classic children's tale Peter Pan.

The Palace and panto specialists Paul Holman Associates, responsible for the last three pantomimes, have secured comedy star David Griffin as Captain Hook.

Mr Griffin starred in the BBC sitcom Hi Di Hi and also played the long-suffering neighbour of Hyacinth Bucket in hit sitcom Keeping Up Appearances.

He will be joined by acrobatic team The Acromaniacs, known for their clumsy tumbling and vaulting, as his pirate crew.

And twinkle-toed youngsters are being offered the chance to take part in the production with auditions next Sunday for trained dancers to star as Indians, pirates, cockneys and sea creatures.

Children must be aged seven by November 23 and younger than 17 by December 31. They must attend regular dance lessons in ballet, tap and jazz.

All dancers must be able to commit for rehearsals and performances from November 23 until December 31.

The show also needs boy actors to play John and Michael Darling and the Lost Boys. Actors do not have to be experienced as long as they are enthusiastic, confident and disciplined.

Auditions will be held at the Palace next Sunday. Registration is 9.30am for juniors, 11am for seniors and 1pm for boys.
