A FUNDRAISING day organised by women's team Redditch VC will be held on Sunday at the Valley Stadium.

The day will include a friendly football match between Redditch VC and their supporters, kicking off at 3pm and anyone is welcome to come along to watch or play.

There will also be a beat-the-keeper competition, a cake competition, buffet, raffle and live entertainment from local bands in the evening.

Live entertainment will start at 7.30pm but the bar will be open from 5pm when the match is finished. Admission is £3 for just the match or just the evening, or £5 for both.

Half of the funds raised will go to the club and half to the family of VC player Tara Cook, whose young cousin Ellie Conlon died tragically last month.

Redditch VC committee spokesman Livia Turton said: "It should be a really fun day and we want as many people as possible to come down and get involved, either playing or supporting. It will also be a good way to kick off our season, which starts next week.

"It is a good opportunity for us to do something fun and involve our supporters while raising funds for the club.

''We are also happy to be able to support Tara and her family, who recently suffered a bereavement."
