RESIDENTS and staff from Terry Springs Court took to the town centre streets last week to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

They took part in a sponsored walk, starting off from their Smallwood base and travelling into town, around Church Green and Unicorn Hill before returning home.

Terry Springs has an open day on Friday so people can see what opportunities exist for volunteers.

Spokesman Jan Little said: "We are looking for enthusiastic people, aged over 18, who have a few hours a week to spare. We need help in the social club, the coffee shop and in our grocery shop.

"There are many benefits for volunteers as they get to go on trips, on holidays and to see stage shows.

"This is not just a residential home - it's an extremely lively, active community."

The open day is from 2-5.30pm and is open to elderly people considering a future move to a residential home, as well as potential volunteers.
