ALVECHURCH threw away the chance to banish their Division One relegation fears with a comprehensive defeat in their relegation scrap at Barnards Green.

Martin Curtice's side could manage only 185-8 and saw their fellow strugglers bely their league position to accumulate the required runs for the loss of just one wicket to leave Alvechurch firmly in trouble.

A meagre three-point return leaves just six points separating Church from the bottom two and heading into a must-win weekend double-header.

Alvechurch have a stiff-looking assignment at home to third-placed Brockhampton on Saturday before another opportunity to ease their fears at home to basement boys Romsley and Hunnignton on Monday (both 1pm start).

Astwood Bank were frustrated by the rain after raising a handy-looking 167-3 at home to Chaddeseley Corbett on Saturday.

The visitors were unable to take the field after the heavens opened to leave Bank a disappointing seven points.

The Bank host Bewdley on Saturday and Pershore on Monday (both 1pm start).

Feckenham enjoyed a comfortable win at home to Cleverley, their match surviving the damp conditions.

The hosts bowled their rivals for 103 before easing home to 107 for the loss of just two wickets to take maximum points.

The villagers visit Alveley on Saturday (1pm start) but look to have left it too late to secure a top-two finish.

Relegated Hewell at least managed to stage their match at home to Barnards Green at the weekend.

But after regular problems with their boundary nets, Hewell reached 196-5 only to be denied a result by rain.

Dave Mullard's side host badsey on saturday (1pm start).
