AN FA Cup exit and back-to-back league defeats are not the perfect way to start the new season but Studley boss Kevin Rowlands won't be pushing any panic buttons just yet.

The Bees crashed 4-0 at Coalville Town in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on Saturday but the manager still has faith in his players.

"They are still a good bunch of lads," Rowlands said. "But they have to learn and grow and they won't do that if we change things around early doors.

"We will continue working with the players we have and I'm certainly not going to be hitting the panic button after three games. That would only show that I've not done my job properly.

"I believe we have a good side and know that we will turn the corner. It's just that we don't know when we will reach that corner!"

Studley were set to face neighbours Alvechurch at the Beehive last night before rounding off a frantic few days with a home clash against Friar Lane & Epworth on Saturday (ko 3pm) and heading to Westfields on bank holiday Monday (ko 3pm).

"We will have a better chance of seeing where we are after these games," Rowlands added. "We need to see some improvements but I'll be amazed if we are on the same points by next Tuesday."

Saturday's cup tie almost produced the perfect start for Rowlands' side when Andy Johnson just missed out on handing them a fifth minute lead.

But Coalville hit back and goals from Chris Gray and Rich Saunders handed them a two-goal cushion inside the opening 20 minutes.

The Bees tried in vain to force their way back into the game and came unstuck late on when two goals from Ashley Warner wrapped up the win.

Rowlands added: "It was the worst performance of the season. We are not going to win games if we continue to gift teams chances like we did on Saturday."
